I qualified as an occupational therapist from Teesside University in 2006, and have worked within Acute and Forensic mental health settings, taking up the position of Clinical Lead OT for Adult Mental Health In Patients in June 2013. In October 2015 my role was extended to Clinical Lead OT for Adult Mental Health In-Patients and Rehabilitation services.
My special interests include Psychiatric intensive care units (PICU’s), Group work, Creative activities, Recovery, the experience of the disabled Occupational Therapists and Social Media as a CPD tool.
I am also active within the British Association of OT; and 1 of 7 OT’s that run #OTALK – The weekly Twitter chat about occupational therapy.
I’m interested in how a person’s mental health impacts; on their daily lives and how engaging in creative activity aids the Recovery Process.
